Caster industry terminology and caster structure
In order to facilitate customers to select casters suitable for
their own equipment, Hanke casters
summarizes the terms commonly used in the industry as follows:
1, Caster height: refers to the vertical distance from the ground
to the installation position. The
installation height of casters refers to the maximum vertical
distance from the caster floor to the
edge of the wheel.
2, Structure of casters casters are formed by installing a single
wheel on the support, which are
mainly divided into two categories:
1. Fixed casters can only move in a straight line. The fixed
support is equipped with a single wheel.
2. Movable casters can drive in any direction at will. The 360
degree steering bracket is equipped
with a single wheel.
3, The steering center distance of the support refers to the
horizontal distance from the vertical
line of the central rivet to the center of the wheel core.
4, Load bearing capacity of running casters when moving. Also known
as dynamic load. The
dynamic load of casters varies due to different specifications and
factory test methods. It also varies
according to the data of the wheel. The key is whether the
structure and quality of the support can
resist impact and vibration.
5, Impact load the instantaneous bearing capacity of casters when
the equipment is impacted or
vibrated by the load.
6, The proper spacing of the rotation radius enables the casters to
turn 360 degrees. Whether the
rotation radius is reasonable or not directly affects the service
life of casters, which refers to the horizontal
distance from the vertical line of the central rivet to the outer
edge of the tire.
7, Static load static load shall be at least 3 times of impact
load. The weight that casters can bear at rest.
Generally, the static load shall be 3 times of the exercise load.
8, On the ground with stable driving flexibility, the factors
affecting the driving flexibility of casters
include: the structure of the support, the selection of support
steel, the size of the wheel, the type of
wheel, bearings, etc. The larger the wheel, the better the driving
flexibility. Hard, narrow wheels save
more effort than flat edged soft wheels. But on uneven ground, soft
wheels save labor. However, on
uneven ground, soft wheels can better maintain the equipment and
shock absorption.
9, Turning radius: refers to the horizontal distance from the
vertical line of the central rivet to the outer
edge of the tire. The caster can turn 360 degrees with an
appropriate spacing. Whether the turning radius
is reasonable or not directly affects the service life of the
caster.
If the turning radius is too short, it will increase the difficulty
of turning. Narrow wheels are softer and wide
wheels are easier to turn. Rotation radius is an important
parameter of wheel rotation. Too large will lead
to wheel shaking and shortened service life. Driving flexibility:
the factors affecting the driving flexibility of
casters include the structure of the support, the selection of
support steel, the size of the wheel, the type
of wheel, bearings, etc. the larger the wheel, the better the
driving flexibility. The hard and narrow wheel is
less labor-saving than the soft wheel with flat edge on smooth
ground, but the soft wheel is less labor-
saving on uneven ground, But on uneven ground, soft wheels can
better protect the equipment and shock
absorption.
The requirements of caster speed are: under normal temperature
environment, at no higher than walking
speed, on flat ground, there is a general use condition of certain
stop working state.
The caster diameter is 75mm and the speed shall be less than 2km /
h,

4km / h.
